From Arendt’s point of view, political decline is a major indication of modern crisis. The break of the bond of public speech intensifies the decline and disappearance of citizens in the sense of ontology. The bour? geois who pursues private interests is committed to the possession of material wealth rather than the realization of outstanding humanity. Arendt points out that political action with speech as its main form is the fundamental way for citizens to exercise freedom, gain meaning and achieve immortality. Political speech is a kind of con? structive goodness, originating from the political nature of citizens’self-actualization. The meaning space of speech construction can make citizens experience the pleasure of self-presentation, the power of novel creation and the precious nobility in life. While Arendt’s aesthetic political speech lays the linguistic foundation for civil politics, it is also faced with practical difficulties.
