The image is the core of Laozi’s theory of Taoism. Laozi transformed the symbolic meanings of images into the symbolic symbols of Tao by means of words, which forms the metaphysical realm. The metaphysical and rational logic deduction is achieved by the intuitive perception of the image. Therefore, the care and operation towards images play an important role in the translator’s creating process. The images of Tao têching are featured by high integration of words, images, meanings in translated language culture. From the perspective of reception aesthetic, essence of the images in Arthur Waley’s translation is to apply the corresponding translation strategies to reflect the ways of images in translated language culture,and accepted by target readers on the basis of fusion of horizon and full grasp of philosophical concepts. Therefore, target readers’reading pleasure roots in language transformation and the process of the images.
