Abstract:“Zheng” and “Qi” are important literary criticism concepts raised by LIU Xie in his Literary Mind and Carving of Dragons. The formation of this concept was influenced by the pre-Qin scholars. They contradicted with each other and affected each other. From the view of thinking content, LIU Xie approved of “Zheng”, but from the view of artistic form, he objectively acknowledged that the method of “Qi” can serve the content of “Zheng”. LIU Xie's study on the relationship of the “Zheng” and “Qi” provides a more objective criterion to evaluate the new changes in the literature of his time.
