The general education curriculum cluster of the University of California at Los Angeles is constructed based on the philosophies of inter-discipline, promoting the development of students' intelligence skills, building learning community, and enhancing students' active learning concept. The reform explorations has achieved certain effect by establishing a management team for general education curriculum cluster and involving outstanding teachers and graduate students in curriculum development and teaching. It poses some enlightenment on China's developing general education curriculum in research universities.
