Since the late Han Dynasty, the common practice of literati's association has always been thriving. The association of literati during the period of Southern Dynasty, represented by the eight friends in Jingling,was characterized by universality, publicity, and complexity. Most of the literati's associations aimed at pursuing power, which was related to the flippant and snobbish academic atmosphere of that time.
