Abstract:Migrant work is the main form of population flow in the process of urbanization. A comparative data analysis conducted on the population of migrant workers and non-migrant workers in married women in poverty-stricken rural areas shows that with the increasing women migrant workers, the gender concept of married women has constantly been renewed, their traditional single roles in the family have been broken up,and relative economic independence has been achieved with a tendency of their gradually strengthened rights in family decision, which has obviously improved their family status. However, little effect can be found in such aspects as the improvement in the labor pattern of gender division and domestic violence in rural families, causing the possible problems such as the left-behind children and the lonely old people.
