Since the 18th CPC National Congress, scholars have studied Xi Jinping’s important expositions on precise poverty alleviation. The content mainly involves analyzing its theoretical origins from philosophical and historical perspectives; analyzing its realistic foundation from the perspective of domestic and international environments; analyzing its main content from the perspectives of goals, paths and strategies; discussing its contemporary value from the development of domestic poverty alleviation and its implications for developing countries’ poverty reduction policies. The main problems are that some of the research content is limited to the interpretation of poverty alleviation policies, while some of the research areas are weak and some important issues have not received due attention. In the future, the study on the important expositions of Xi Jinping about precise poverty alleviation should focus on the following topics: in terms of the content, it should strengthen the research on the philosophical basis, driving force, development history, and comparison of Chinese and foreign poverty alleviation of Xi Jinping’s important discussions on precise poverty alleviation; in terms of research methods, comprehensive ways such as combining theory with practice, the integration of macro-research, medium research and micro-research and a multidisciplinary comprehensive research method should be used.
