Network populism has its positive effects, but its negative effects dominate the mainstream. It will interfere with the process of public crisis management activities with so-called public opinion, and the anti-intellectualism it promoted will dispel the authority of the public crisis management, resulting in an anarchist situation. It will also impact on the independence of the judiciary with the banner of public opinion trial and coerce or manipulate the development of public crisis management activities in an extremely irrational way. To avoid the harmful governance of network populism, we need to constantly improve the public crisis management system and enhance the positive image of crisis management activities to curb the spread of network populism.
